²³ But Sihon would not let Israel pass through his country. He gathered all his people and went out against Israel in the desert. He came to Jahaz and fought against Israel. ²⁴ Then Israel killed Sihon with the sword. They took his land from the Arnon to the Jabbok, as far as the people of Ammon. For Jazer was the side of the land of the Ammonites. ²⁵ Israel took all these cities. They lived in all the cities of the Amorites, in Heshbon, and in all its towns.
